Five Women Wearing the Same Dress
Written by Alan Ball Directed by Penny Bergman

During an ostentatious 1980s wedding reception at a Knoxville, Tennessee, estate, five reluctant, identically clad bridesmaids escape to an upstairs bedroom, each with her own reason to avoid the reception. They are Frances (Ellen Swanson), a painfully sweet but sheltered fundamentalist; Mindy (Zane Julia), the cheerful wisecracking lesbian sister of the groom; Georgeanne (Chantal Hart), whose heartbreak over her own failed marriage triggers outrageous behavior; Meredith (Toni Watterson), the bride's younger sister whose precocious rebelliousness masks a dark secret; and Trisha (Jade Elle), a jaded beauty whose die-hard cynicism about men is called into question when she meets Tripp (Andrew Rothkin), a charming bad boy usher to whom there is more than meets the eye. As the afternoon wears on, these five very different women joyously discover a common bond in this wickedly funny, irreverent, and touching celebration of the women's spirit.

Calendar Girls
Written by Tim Firth Directed by Marshall Mays

When Annie's (Jeannie Dalton) husband John (Chip Brenner) dies of leukemia, she and best friend Chris (Rebecca Downs) resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow Women's Institute members to pose nude with them for an "alternative" calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence (David Hamilton). The news of the women's charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie's friendship is put to the test under the strain of their newfound fame.
